And Halloween!
Charlotte's costume is DONE! And I had three whole days to spare! Not too shabby. I imagine one of these years I'll be at the sewing machine at 10pm the night before Halloween ...
The cape is made from Kona cotton in Tomato Red using a McCall's pattern, and that sweet little dress is made using fabric designed by Tasha Noel of A Little Sweetness. Isn't it adorable!? She teamed up with Leila and Ben to create a dress kit using her fabrics and their patterns. It was super simple to sew and fits Charlotte perfectly.
I picked up this basket at World Market for under $5. I already had the red polkadot fabric in my stash, and the ribbon was leftover from the ties on the hooded cloak. This no-sew basket liner was fast and easy to make. I just cut out a large oval of fabric, loosely arranged it in the basket, glued around the lip of the basket with a hot glue gun, then glued on a strip of ribbon to hide the edges.
I hope everyone has a Happy Halloween! I know we will!

P.S. Madison is going to be a witch. Her costume is black and orange and sparkly. No, I didn't make it! Pics to come later.
We had a lovely Easter in middle Tennessee. The weather was perfect. The girls really enjoyed the treasures the Easter Bunny left them. Rainbow Goldfish crackers, eggs filled with jelly beans and Cheerios, a chocolate bunny, new sand toys, crayons, a Dora pint book ... Treasure!
After the excitement of tearing into the baskets was over, Charlotte went down for her morning nap and Madison and I colored eggs. Eco eggs didn't happen this year, but I had fun teaching her how to mix two colors to make a new color. Yellow and green made a lovely lime, blue and green a very pretty teal, our orange came out more goldenrod, and purple a little muddy, not to mention our fingertips.
Then it was on to the 11 o'clock Easter Mass. At nearly 3, there was no chance chance Madison was going to sit still in the pews this year, so Daddy and Mama took turns walking with her so we could each catch at least part of the service, while Charlotte had a blast playing in the nursery. Hard to believe how much they have both grown in a year.
Madison looked like such a little Lady. Her eyes lit up when I presented her with her Easter dress that morning and new shoes. NEW SHOES. Despite her usual Tomboy tendencies, the girl loves shoes. Can't say I blame her.
She really had the hang of the whole Egg Hunt thing this year, her third Easter. She took off like lightning when given the cue to start and snatched up eggs and candy in the grass faster than any other tot in her age group. Egg hunting is pretty competitive, don't you know? Then she surprised the heck out of me by sharing her loot with another little boy who had gotten in on the action late. I guess we're doing something right!
Charlotte has been sweet every day of her life and doubly so on Easter. She's moving so fast these days! She didn't care much about the egg hunt, but loved zipping around the lawn as fast as she could. So darn cute! She's all sunshine all the time.
Hard to believe that a year ago she slept soundly through all of Easter Mass.
